Heming Tang received her B. S. degree in biomedical engineering from Sichuan University in 2016 and obtained her Ph. D. degrees from Soochow University in 2021. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences of Hangzhou Institute of Medicine (HIM), and pointed as assistant research fellow in 2023. Publications have been reported in Advanced Materials, ACS Applied Materials&Interfaces, Nanoscale Horizons, ACS Omega, Science China Materials.
Research Areas
Heming Tang’s research directions involve in developing the novel strategies for nucleic acid delivery, cell engineering, and immunoengineering via aptamers.
1. Organ- and cell- targeted mRNA delivery system via apatmers: mRNA technology is by far the most powerful cell regulatory tool, through the expression of protein. Tang’s research focuses on aptamers’ active-passive targeting performance for extrahepatic organ- and cell- targeted mRNA delivery, in order to increase mRNA efficacy and reduce side effects.
2. in vivo Cell engineering via mRNA: mRNA is a powerful tool for cells engineering. Tang’s research focuses on in vivo engineering cells through above mRNA targeted delivery technology, involving in pancreatic cell reprogramming, in situ CAR-cells, mRNA cancer vaccine, and etc,.
3. Immunoengineering: Nowadays, the cognition of “good” immune cells has reached an unprecedented level. In contrast, the biotechnology about in vivo immune cell precise manipulation is still lacking. Tang’s research focuses on developing novel biotechnology that can selectively mobilize immune cells (selective immune cell engineering/infiltration/activation), a field called “immunoengineering”, through molecule tools (especially aptamers), in order to treat cancer safely and effectively with immunotherapies.
