I am a Special-term Associate Professor at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGG-CAS). My research focuses on observational seismology and the application of artificial intelligence and big data methods in Earth sciences. I am particularly interested in volcano seismology, induced seismicity, submarine volcano monitoring, and machine-learning applications in earthquake seismology.

My recent work combines seismic observations with data-driven approaches to better understand earthquake and volcanic processes. I have worked extensively on seismic monitoring at Axial Seamount, one of the world’s most active submarine volcanoes, where I developed machine-learning-enhanced workflows for earthquake detection, location, and eruption precursor analysis. I am also interested in seismic hazard assessment and fault structure imaging in induced seismicity cases.

Before joining IGG-CAS, I was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University. I received my Ph.D. in Geophysics from Stanford University.

Students interested in seismology, machine learning, and AI applications in geosciences are welcome to contact me.
