Research Interests

Root-knot nematodes (RKN) and cyst nematodes are the two most damaging groups of plant-parasitic nematodes and are widely distributed worldwide on many crops. My research focuses on the two nematodes to study the interaction between nematodes and plants in the molecular and genetic level. Research includes a defined combination of themes selected among the areas of nematode–plant interaction, host-perception genes in nematodes, host defense genes in plants, resistance genes in plants, avirulence genes in nematodes, plant genetic resistance, nematode identification, nematode-disease complex infection, IPM, and biotechnology. Functional genomics study on soybean cyst nematodes is one of my important research areas, which will allow us to address genome-wide disease responses. Research discovery in this area will result in a better understanding of biology of complex interactions between plants and nematodes and correspondingly new targets for control strategies will be explored.
