Dr. Qiu Yubao, currently a research professor at the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIR-CAS), member of the Academic Construction Committee for the International Research Center of Big Data for SDGs (CBAS) (2021.9- 2026.8). 

He directs the Digital Environment Research Unit of CBAS and is now Secretary General of the “Digital Belt and RoadProgram” (DBAR), and Secretary General to the Digital Polar Committee of CN-ISDE. He has engaged in microwave remote sensing applications, remote sensing of snow and ice, Arctic environment research, digital environment and sustainable development, and data science; 

He led 2 international cooperation projects of National Key R&D Plans, 2 projects granted by National Natural Science Foundation of China, won 2 provincial and ministerial awards, published more than 100 papers, obtained 7 intelligence patents, participated in the preparation of 4 monographs, and won the first "ScienceDB Scientific Data Award" (individual achievement award); served as editorial board member/consultant editorial board member for 5 domestic and foreign journals; 

He is currently the co-chairman/coordinator of the "Earth Observation Organization" GEO Cold Region Initiative (GEOCRI), and the youth member of the National Committee of China of Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA); Secretary General of Digital Polar Committee under Chinese National Committee of International Society for Digital Earth; leader of the High Mountain and Cold Zone (HiMAC)Working Group of the " Digital Belt and Road " Program (DBAR).
