Research Interests

Current research interests of our group focus on the construction of genome-scale metabolic model to design metabolic engineering strategy. Guided by in silico simulation, the biosynthesis and regulatory mechanisms of the amino acids, nucleotides and derivatives in the microbial and eucaryotic cells are investigated using systems biology and synthetic biology methods, to clarify the relationship between the amino acids, nucleotides metabolism and tumorigenesis as well as metabolic disease. Crystal structures of key enzymes involving in important life and metabolic processes are analyzed to guide directed evolution for improving enzymatic characteristics. The synthetic biology technologies including efficient genomic editing, regulatory elements and biosensors are developed to reconstruct cell factory for the production of bio-based products (amino acids, nucleotides and organic amines et. al.) and biological agents (vaccine, antibody, small-molecular inhibitor of tumor and biotoxin et. al.).
