Research Interests

The research of our group includes three aspects, i.e. metal oxide catalysis, photocatalysis and biomass conversion. All of the research fields focus on catalysis, either on the design of heterogeneous catalysts or on new findings related to the basic principles of catalysis or new concepts that have profound promotions of catalysis. 

In detail, metal oxide catalysis focuses on the design and synthesis of multifunctional metal oxide catalysts and the interfacial catalysis by tuning the active-sites, Lewis acid/base pairs, and redox potentials for low-carbon chemcials. Researches of photocatalysis are more interested in the design and synthesis of new photocatalysts, photocatalytic reactions and mechanisms of H2 and biofuels production from biomass and small molecules. As to biomass conversion, the catalytic conversion of lignin, cellulose and platform chemicals is the key, developing sustainable pathways for value-added chemicals and materials is also of interest. Our group also has theoretical support, such as density functional theory (DFT) calculations, molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and life cycle analysis and technique economic analysis (LCA&TEA) to assit experimental studies.
