Research Areas

1. Cloning of stress-responsive genes and studying of gene function. We mainly engage in cloning of stress-responsive gene and studying of gene function and gene regulation, including elucidating the molecule mechanisms and gene engineering of the plants’ resistances to kinds of stresses just like heavy-metal, drought, salt, cold and so on.

2. Phytoremediation. We focus on investigating making use of specially selected or engineered plants to reduce and/or remove contaminants from heavy metal contaminated soil

3. Biofortification of Staple Food Crops. We seek to increase nutrients such as zinc, iron in edible parts of food staples including rice and wheat by genetic engineering.
