Professor Teng Jiwen, was born in Harbin, Hilongjiang Province in March, 1934. He graduated from the Department of Geophysics, Northeast College of Geology in 1956, and received his doctorate degree in Physics and Mathematics from Institute of Geophysics, USSR in 1962.
