She published more than 350 scientific papers in journals such as JACS, AM, AFM, etc. Her scientific papers were cited12000 times and the h-index was 64.

Research Interests

Aiming at the fundamental scientific problems related to the buildup of macroscopic functional systems by nano-units, Prof. Sun focused on the investigation of three nanomaterials with special photoelectrical properties including high efficiency photocatalysts for indoors & outdoors air-cleaning, metal nanowires and low-dimensional carbon materials such as CNTs and graphene. Her group has realized the mass-production of high-efficiency photocatalysts for air-cleaning both indoors and outdoors. They have several products for self-cleaning on different external walls and various metal substrates. Prof. Sun probed the in-depth mechanism of the nano-unit assembly and their functional construction, found novel properties generated from the interfacial coupling effect induced by various components and various scales and realized the high performance of the nanocomposite materials in novel energy devices. She firstly realized the synthesis of highly dispersed single-crystalline copper nanowires and prepared films with unique optical transparency and electrical conductivity, which demonstrate comparable efficiencies when substituting ITO electrodes in organic solar cells. She developed methods for modulating the surface chemistry of low-dimensional carbon materials, found the new coupling effect at the carbon nanotube/graphene interface and successfully constructed carbon-based composite materials with excellent energy-saving performance. She designed and constructed three-dimensional forest-structure titania photoanode, which possessed increased electron lifetime and markedly improved the photovoltaic properties. This offered new thoughts for the photovoltaic design of photoanodes with novel structures. She published more than 220 scientific papers in journals such as JACS, AM, AFM, etc. Her scientific papers were cited 5300 times and the h-index was 40. She wrote one chapter on Carbon Nanotube Transparent Electrode for English monographwhich was downloaded2330 times. She hosted or joined 973, NSFC projects, etc. She was awarded Shanghai Excellent Academic Leader, Excellent Academic Supervisor of CAS, Awards on the International Cooperation of Young CAS Scientists, etc.

Now she sets up the cooperation with Prof. David Pui in university of Minnesota working on filtration materials.
