•He was awarded “Pacemaker to Outstanding Students” of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and “Dean's Award for Studying Excellence” of the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and “SONY Research Award” etc., during his Ph.d study.
•He was awarded first prize of Beijing Science and Technology in 2006 for his outstanding work in the project “3D Human Motion Simulation and Video Analysis System for Sports Training”.
•He visited National University of Singapore for participating in TREC Video Retrieval Evaluation (TRECVID) tasks in 2006. He was TRECVID team (MCG-ICT-CAS) leader of the Multimedia Computing Group at the Institute of Computing Technology, CAS. MCG-ICT-CAS participates regularly in TRECVID, and achieves good positions in the evaluation from 2007 to 2008. •The interactive video retrieval system “VisionGo” co-developed by NUS and ICT was awarded the “Best Performance System” in CIVR 2007 VideOlympics (Interactive Video Retrieval Competition): http://www.videolympics.org/.
•He was selected as one of the “Academic Stars” of the Institute of Computing Technology in July 2007, and a visiting scholar by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in 2008.

Pattern recognition and Machine learning, Multimedia information processing, in particular, on indexing, retrieval and extraction of information in image and video. The main focus is on the semantic analysis and retrieval of video.
