Ph.D., Ibaraki University, Hitachi, Japan
MSc & BSc, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China
Experience
Qi Li holds a BS in earth sciences with diploma of minor programme on computer science from Nanjing University, China (1995), and in 1998 he received a MS in hydrogeology and engineering geology from the same University. In 2004, he received a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Ibaraki University, Japan. Before joining the faculty of the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan, China, he has been a member of Geological Survey of Japan, Tsukuba, from 2005 to 2010.
Dr. Li is now the Professor of CCS Research Group at IRSM; he is a geoscientist with expertise in the fields of hydrogeology and engineering mechanics. The focus of Prof. Li’s research is understanding and using laboratory and numerical tools to design novel subsurface disposal processes and site monitoring systems on different temporal and spatial scales. His research is very interdisciplinary in nature and brings together the fields of hydrogeology, environmental geotechnics, mathematical mechanics, resevoir engineering and remote sensing.
His recent researches in the CCUS (Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage)/AGI (Acid Gas Injection)/eCNT (energy Carbon Neutral Technology) field mainly include performance assessment of disposal reservoirs, porous media flow, coupled rock physical-chemical processes, and risk monitoring and assessment.
