主要从事全球变化与陆地生态系统碳循环研究。近5年,以青藏高原冻土生态系统为研究对象,围绕“土壤碳动态及其调控机制”这一主线开展了系统性工作,解析了全球土壤碳库的变化特征,发现尽管气变暖会造成冻土区土壤碳库下降,但不会造成全球尺度的土壤碳损失,尚未形成对气候变暖的正反馈,该成果被Nature Climate Change杂志选为研究亮点报道,认为该工作改变了气候变暖会导致土壤有机碳丢失的传统认识;阐明了土壤碳分解及其激发效应的调控因素,明确了土壤碳稳定性机制和土壤微生物在有机质分解中的重要作用,为发展地球系统模型提供了重要启示,即模型需耦合关键的稳定性机制和微生物过程才能准确预测土壤碳动态;揭示了氮素通过改变微生物碳利用效率调控土壤碳激发效应的新机制,为微生物代谢生理特性在土壤碳释放中的重要作用提供了典型例证,也为准确理解全球变化背景下碳氮交互作用提供了新视角。基于上述成果,在Nature Communications (3篇)、Global Change Biology、Journal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences等刊物发表SCI论文12篇。
