Research Areas
At SIOM, we pursue basic science topics in laser-plasma interactions, in particular, research on laser driven ion acceleration and its applications. Our research has included fundamental studies that explore high power intense laser plasma sources of energetic particles and photons at petawatt driver levels. A major motivation is the potential application of laser-based radiotherapy. In our experiments, we aim to explore the radiobiology of extreme irradiation regimes and demonstrate first medical applications with pulsed, laser-accelerated ion sources.
We are constantly looking for motivated candidates for PhD and Postdoc positions and welcome your applications. Please contact
