1988年毕业于中国地质大学(武汉)地球化学系地球化学与勘查专业,获工学学士学位;1991年8月至1997年10月在中国科学院地球化学研究所环境地球化学国家重点实验室攻读硕士和博士学位,并于1994年和1997年分别获地球化学理学硕士和博士学位;1997年11月至2000年12月在瑞典哥德堡大学无机化学系从事博士后研究。
