Research Areas
Cations and anions are involved in plant growth, development, signaling transduction and stress responses as essential nutrients, signaling molecules and osmotic components, and the dynamic movement of the diverse ions through biological membrane is mediated and regulated by ion channels and transporters. Therefore ion channels and transporters are key players for the regulation of plant growth, development and signaling transduction and stress responses to diverse stimuli. The main research interest of my group is to reveal the molecular mechanisms of how the flux of diverse ions is mediated and regulated by diverse ion channels and transporters, and to further elucidate the regulating cascades/networks of plant growth, development and signaling responses. We use Arabidopsis and rice as the main materials in our research. We use electrophysiological techniques, including patch clamping in plant cell protoplast and mammalian cells, and voltage clamping in Xenopus oocyte system, for the activity analysis of ion channels and transporters. We have made significant progresses in the understanding of stomatal movement, pollen tube guidance, ion nutrient intake and transport in recent years. Some of our studies have been published in peer-reviewed international journals, including Plant Cell, PNAS, Mol Plant, Planta, Plant Physiol, New Phytol, et al., and those work have been recognized by domestic and international researchers. Based on our efforts through the last few years, we have established a systematic research platform and formed our own research system. We welcome and encourage young researchers, including international students and postdoctoral reserachers, to join our group, to address important and interesting scientific questions, to contribute to the research field, to share our knowledge and happyness, and to succeed together.
Recruitment: 2 positions available

Two positions are available for a postdoctoral reseacher and a research assistant. We are focusing on plant ion nutrient and signaling, and have made remarkable progresses. Some of our study has been published in Plant Cell, PNAS and et al. Many projects need to be taken over from former lab members and students who have left, and it is a good timing for new members to join our group because you have much better chances to publish very nice papers in the near future. We are having two open positions available, one is for a postdoctoral reseracher, and the second one is for a research assistant. You are welcome and appreciated to join our group. If interested, please send your CV, a summary of your research and three recommendation letters from three independent principle investigators (or provide their contact information)  to wangyongfei@sibs.ac.cn by email, and the applicants should:

1. have a Ph.D in plant science

2. 35 years old or younger.

3. Have published at least one original research paper in international journal(s).

4. Search, read, write and understand english documents and publications without difficulty.

5. Love plant science research, and are willing to dedicate for it.

6. The applicants who have research background of crops and/or electrophysiology will be considered as predominant candidates.

This information is posted online at October 27, 2017, and the deadline for application will be the end of December 2017.
