研究领域

传染病一直以来都是人类健康的重要威胁,据WHO统计每年全球有约1500万人因传染病丧生。病毒作为重要的传染病病原,由于其变异速率快、遗传与传播模式独特,经常会造成较大规模的暴发与流行。近年来,国际上相继出现了(禽)流感病毒、埃博拉病毒、中东呼吸综合征冠状病毒、寨卡病毒暴发等事件,严重影响公共卫生和全球经济的发展。造成人群中暴发的新发病毒主要来源于野生动物宿主,明确新发病毒的起源、跨宿主传播、以及在人群中的进化规律至关重要。这是切断病毒传播途径,实现有效监测,指导药物治疗与疫苗开发的前提与基础,具有重要的科学价值和现实意义。刘翟研究员专注于病毒进化与传播规律研究,利用病毒基因组学和生物信息学作为主要研究手段,重点面向病毒起源、进化模型、遗传变异和传播动力学等科学问题。在包括禽流感、埃博拉等重要病毒的起源进化和遗传变异研究领域取得了重要研究成果;在病毒精准溯源、基因动态重配与传播、以及病毒宿主内进化等研究方向上取得了重要突破;提出了新发病毒进化新的理论和模型。
