General

Prof. Xilong Wang is currently group leader for cryogenics and superconducting technology at Dalian Institute of Chemical and Physics (DCIP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He received his Ph.D. in Refrigeration & Cryogenics Engineering from Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry (TICP), CAS. During 2004-2006, he has worked at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP/CAS) and Institute of Physics (IP/CAS), involved in the big scientific projects, the Beijing Electron Position Collider upgrade (BEPCII) and the Chinese Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). From Jan 2007, He started his work at Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Germany and greatly contributed to the design, construction, installation and commissioning of the Cryomodule Test Bench (CMTB), Accelerator Module Test Facility (AMTF) and European XFEL cryogenic and cryomodule system. Since April 2012, he played principal role as the project manager, work unit leader and senior scientist for the accelerator cryoplant (20 MEuro acquisition) at European Spallation Source (ESS), Sweden. He joined in DICP at March 2020.

Prof. Wang has very strong knowledge and great expertise in cryogenics, cryomodule design and operation, and superconducting accelerator, particularly in area of large-scale scientific facilities and projects. He has very good communication and project management skills including the ability to effectively create and manage budgets and schedule. He is one of the most skilled scientists of his peer group.
