研究领域为：遗传流行病学。

首次在国际上发现并阐明了： 
1、人类葡萄糖磷酸变位酶（PGM）基因位点中国人新变异亚型PGM1China。
2、人类染色体Y-27H39位点F、G等位基因。
3、人类早期发育基因对人类基因组杂合度的影响分析。
4、印度部落群体中多发性大肠腺瘤样息肉基因突变检测及遗传咨询。
5、发现Alu基因家族 Aluy HG retroelement；D20S85位点微卫星及单核苷酸多态性结构分析。
6、中国人MBL与SLE在分子水平的相关连锁。
7、中国人五代家系视网膜变性Rhodopsin 基因外显子1（TTC–TAC）变异的发现。
8、中国三个穆斯林聚居人群:撒拉、保安和东乡的起源和基因结构。
9、中国罪犯DNA文库的建立。
10、新的骨髓增生异常综合症相关蛋白基因的克隆和鉴定。
11、命名sub-optimal health status （SHS）及建立SHS诊断标准。

迄今，已在《自然遗传学》“Nature Genetics”, 《自然癌综述》《Nature Reviews Cancer》”,《新英格兰医学杂志》“The New England Medicine”, 《柳叶刀》“Lancet”，《公共科学图书馆-遗传学》“PLoS Genetics” , 《公共科学图书馆-医学》PLoS Medicine” ,《公共科学图书馆-ONE》“PLoS ONE” 国内外学术期刊发表学术论文100余篇。英文专著1部，参与著书3部。
