Dr. Songqi Ma is a full professor focusing on Sustainable thermosetting polymers in Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CNITECH). He earned his PhD from Guangzhou Institute of Chemistry, Chinese academy of sciences in 2011. He used to work as Project Fellow and Postdoc in Hong Kong Polytechnic University and North Dakota State University. He has long been engaged in thermosetting materials, and has published 94 peer-reviewed papers in Progress in Polymer Science, Macromolecules, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Green Chemistry, ChemSuschem, etc. and 55 patents. He is one of the editorial board members of Journal of Renewaable Materials and Current Green Chemistry, and invitation reviewers for 50 SCI journals such as Nature, Nat. Sustain., Macromolecules, Green Chem., ChemSusChem, Polym. Chem., ACS Sustain. Chem. Eng., ACS Appl. Bio Mater., Macromol. Rapid Comm., Chem. Eng. J., Langmuir, Prog. Org. Coat., Ind. Eng. Chem. Res., Eur. Polym. J., ACS Appl. Nano Mater., ACS Omega,  Ind. Crop. Prod., Polym. Int., J.Appl. Polym. Sci. etc.

Research Areas

Synthesis and properties of sustainable and functional thermosets with comparable properties with or even better properties than commonly used conventional thermosets. Specific areas of focus are:

1. Controlled degradable thermosets;

2. Remoldable thermosets based on dynamic covalent bonds;

3. Thermosets from renewable resources;

4. Intrinsic green flame retardant thermosets;

5. Structure-property relationships;

6. The application of the synthesized thermosets in composites and coatings.
