Experience

Yang has been engaged in long term on aquaculture ecology and facility, habitat rehabilitation and resource conservation, sea cucumbers biology and genetic breeding and other researches. Last decade, Yang took charge of two National 973 plan projects (one was chair and the other was vice chair), two Support plan projects, two 863 plan projects (vice chair), five National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), two special scientific research projects of national marine public welfare industry, one Shandong improved agricultural seeds engineering major project and one Qingdao science and technology research projects. Yang built the carrying capacity evaluation index system of raft culture in the shallow sea. The aquaculture capacity of Scallop, Kelp and Trepang in the experimental area was simulated and determined. The impact of shallow sea shellfish culture self-pollution and mariculture area were studied. The ecological functions of macrophytic algae and deposit feeders (Stichopus japonicus) were revealed systematically. The ecological immune mechanism of Chlamys farreri under different environmental factors was researched. The life cycle of S. japonicas and its physiological and biochemical characteristics were illuminated. The aestivation period of S. japonicas was divided on the physiological and biochemical level. A series of land-based factories and shallow marine aquaculture engineering facilities were developed. Yang developed and built a variety of technologies, which included new multivariate ecology-efficient aquaculture technology of trepang and other important marine economic animals and recovery technique of damaged habitats and biological resources in the typical bay. The related facilities and technologies have been promoted and applied in Shandong and other places along the coast.
