研究领域

主要从事新生代早期哺乳动物演化与灵长类研究工作,在灵长类起源与早期辐射、亚洲内陆干旱化与哺乳动物演替等方面取得重要成果,发表论文80余篇,包括2篇《Nature》和1篇《Science》第一作者论文。入选Elsevier中国高被引学者榜单。主要学术成绩包括:把类人猿理论起源时间前推1000万年,相关研究被《Discover》杂志评为2013年度世界百大科技新闻;重建了灵长类共同祖先生态适应方式,提出灵长类日行性起源说,相关研究被国际同行喻为“中国明灯”;提出灵长类起源以后的理论地理扩散路径,被国际同行归结为相关问题的4种理论之一;提出“始新世-渐新世演化滤器”,解释了亚洲类人猿间断式演化和类人猿冠类群非洲起源的可能原因;参与了美国国家科学基金会生命之树计划,与国际同行一起,提出有胎盘类冠类群爆发式起源于恐龙灭绝之后的假说。
