Research Professor, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, founder and director (1986-1996), the State Key Lab on Urban & Regional Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He got his Ph.D degree in Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985, mayored in Urban Ecology. He has been working on the integrative methodology for urban & human dominated ecosystem planning & management since 1981, and developed the "Social-Economic-Natural Complex Ecosystem" theory in cooperation with his PhD. advisory, Prof. Shijun MA, which combines ancient Chinese human ecological thoughts with modern eco-systematics. He has successfully applied the SENCE theory to different scale’s urban & industrial sustainability case studies in China, from eco-town, eco-county, eco-city to eco-province and got 15 national academic awards. He published more than 150 scientific papers & 16 books on urban & human dominated ecosystems. He has been the leaders of many national and international academic organizations and organized several international and domestic research projects and academic conferences.
