Research Interests

Dr. Chen has been extensively involved in the field of hydraulics and river dynamics and with a focus on energy dissipation of high speed flow. Now he is devoted to research the new theory and structure of debris flow hazard mitigation as well as the application of these theories and structures in practical mitigation engineering. In addition, a project on the discharge characteristics of debris flow drainage channel with energy dissipation structure was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 41302283). Up to now, he has published 20 research papers in journals and conferences, and been granted an excellent paper award for International Debris-Flow Workshop (2014) as well as 17 Chinese invention patents.
