Research Areas
Focusing on new technology of oligosaccharide analysis,separation and preparation,establishing natural oligosaccharides library. Exploring the mechanisms of various oligosaccharides regulation animal and plant development and immunity, especially revealing the role of O-GlcNAc. Characterizing biofilm polysaccharide of fungi and bacteria, studing the role of biofilm polysaccharide in antibiotic resistance, and screening new anti-biofilm drugs.
Developing new techniques on the oligosaccharide engineering, developing oligosaccharide health products, bio-pesticides, and feed additive.
Prof. Du and his co-workers have completed and are taking charge of more than twenty scientific research projects such as tackling key problems for “National ninth Five-year Plan”, “National tenth Five-year Plan”, and “National Eleventh Five-year Plan”, National “863” Plan Project, and National Natural Science Foundation, have received more than ten awards in provincial, ministerial or municipal levels, have published more than 200 papers in the academic journals of China and abroad, applied near one hundred patents, have twenty PhD and five master students.
Several of the research discoveries have been developed and adapted for commercial use, including three kinds of health food products with Chitooligosaccharide (All the three products have obtained the health food certificate issued by the State Food and Drug Administration of the People's Republic of China and begun to be industrialized.), five bio-pesticide products with oligosaccharide (Two kinds of them have obtained the pesticide registered certificate issued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China), and Feed additive with oligosaccharide (It obtained the new feed and feed additive product certificate issued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China), yielding enormous social benefit and considerable commercial benefit.Students
