研究领域

The research field  is Quantum Dot (QD) optical nanomaterials, the synthetic manufacturing process and scale-up thereof, and applications ranging from biological taggants and probes to QD Enhancement Film (QDEF) and QD Light Emitting Diode (QLED) device technologies for optical information display applications. Key achievements include invention of Quantum Dots commercialized in QDEF and ColorIQ color enhancement technologies currently and formerly used in the display market and found in devices and TVs manufactured by Samsung Electronics, TCL, Sony, Philips, Amazon, and others. Other achievements include commercialization of QD Heterostructure (QDH) nanomaterials commercialized by OSRAM Opto Semiconductor as LED downconvertors in Solid State Lighting (SSL) applications, silver nanoparticle inks for security applications commercialized by SICPA, and copper and nickel nanoparticle inks used in printed electronics for cellphone circuit boards and MLCC technologies by Samsung Electro-Mechanics. Current and future efforts are focused on development of novel Cadmium-Free QDs (CFQDs), scale-up and continuous flow manufacture of QDs, QD photolithography for high-resolution patterning for up-close personal display applications and ultra-high-resolution AR/VR applications, and development and optimization of QLED device technologies for the display TV industry.
