主要从事大洋火成岩石学和地幔地球化学,主要研究兴趣包括:洋中脊岩浆作用和软流圈地幔动力学、全球板内海山成因和地幔组成化学均一性、板块俯冲有关的岩浆活动机制、南海扩张过程的岩浆作用和地幔组成,及岩浆过程中的深部碳循环研究等。
