Recruitment

To meet the urgent need of network society for mass information processing, Intelligent Massive Information Processing (IMIP) is set up as an important research direction by Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), which has also been listed as one of the three great breakthroughs during the Twelve-Five planning of CASIA. 

The strategic objective of IMIP is to build a semantic computing platform for massive multimodal data, which is open, parallel, and extensible. This platform is designed to realize a unified expression for rich media, including texts, speeches, images, and videos. Such work will break through the "bottleneck" of learning and inferences for massive semantic knowledge. This will ultimately set theoretical foundation for efficient processing of social perception data, which is massive, complex, multisource, heterogeneous, and spatiotemporal correlated. IMIP sets its research focus on large-scale knowledge acquisition and management, large-scale machine learning and knowledge inference, natural language understanding, application modeling, and large-scale distributed parallel processing. The outcomes of this research will find widespread applications in  big data analyzing and processing.
 
The graduate program for IMIP is allocated with separate quotas, with special concern on the cultivation of comprehensive qualities and innovation abilities of graduate students. This will provide an all-around resource sustainment and broad space for students’ future development.

Biography

From 1990 to 1992, he studied in the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CASIA) for master’s degree. From 1992, he studied for doctor’s degree in the field of pattern recognition and intellident system under supervision of Dai Ruwei, acadimician of CAS, who is a leading authority in pattern recognition. He proposed “Network Integration based on Supervised Learning” , which greatly improved the recognition rate of off-line handwritten character. He received his doctor’s degree in 1996. 

From 1996 to 1998, he continued his research as a post-doctoral fellow in Institute of Acoustics, CAS.

From 1998 to 2012, he was a profesor in Department of Computer Science, University of Science and Technology Beijing.He went abroad as a visiting researcher for one year in Central Research Laborotary,Hitachi Ltd.,Tokyo, Japan in 2001. 

From 2012, he is a professor in Institute of Automation, CAS. He is the chair professor of Intelligent Massive Information Processing Department. He is also the deputy director of Interactive Digital Media Technology Research Center. His research interests include semantic computation, pattern recognition, machine learning, and image proccesing. He has published over 50 papers in Chinese journals, international journals and conferences.
