Research Areas

Prof. Shu mainly works on aerosol chemistry. His main research interests involve characterizing aerosol particles and investigating heterogeneous reactions of aerosols by the method of mass spectrometry. A vacuum ultraviolet photoionization aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer and a bioaerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer have been developed recently by his group. Heterogeneous reactions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and pesticide particles have been investigated in real-time with the vacuum ultraviolet photoionization aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer.
