Research Areas

Nitric oxide (NO), serving as a critical signaling molecule, is involved in regulation of plant growth and development, and responsive processes to environmental stresses. Our research interests are focusing on dissecting nitric oxide (NO) signal transduction pathway in which how plant cells perceive a NO signal and transfer this signal to nucleus to regulate the expression of down-stream genes. Other questions we would like to answer are that how senescence is initiated and regulated in higher plants and what is the role of NO in these physiological processes.

Heat stress is an important environmental factor to trigger the initiation of leaf senescence. Considered that photosynthesis is housed in chloroplasts that are the primary susceptible targets of thermal damage in plants, we are interested in addressing the key question how plant cells maintain chloroplast integrity, especially for thylakoid membranes, by dissecting the signaling pathway of activating heat stress transcription factors under heat stress.
