1961年7月生于河北省沙河县(今沙河市)白塔镇马庄。

1979 - 1983年在山东大学化学系学习,1990年获中科院化学所博士学位;1990-1992年在武汉大学作博士后研究;1996-1997年获德国洪堡基金会资助,在Bremen大学从事研究工作。主要从事生物分子的光学探针与传感分析、生物光谱学与选择性探测研究。2005年度国家杰出青年基金获得者;2006年获中国分析测试协会科学技术一等奖,2010年获北京市科学技术二等奖,2012年获国务院政府特殊津贴。

      光学(包括吸光、荧光、发光)探针及其传感分析;光学探针的分子设计、合成及其荧光成像分析等;
      分子光谱、光学探针的基础研究;
      生化分析:光学探针在生物、临床医学中的应用, 包括研制试剂盒、临床试纸等
