Research Areas

I work on the design, R&D and construction of large-scale particle accelerators, beam physics study, as well some beam applications. Before 2011, I was mainly involved in cyclotrons, and since then I have been working on synchrotrons and linacs, especially high-power proton accelerators. Since 2003, I have been one of the main players in the design, R&D and construction of the accelerator complex for China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), and was responsible for the physics design of the accelerator complex for China Accelerator-Driven System (C-ADS) during 2011-2013. Since 2007, I have been promoting the design and development of various beam applications at CSNS. Since 2012, I have been studying accelerator-based neutrino experimental facilities. I have also rich experience in proton therapy.
Actually, I am responsible for the expanded beam applications including white neutron source, muon source and proton beams at CSNS. I am coordinating the Chinese collaboration on designing an accelerator-based neutrino beam facility (MOMENT, or Daya Bay-III) and leading the collaboration with the international neutrino beam facilities, especially LBNE in the US, ESSnuSB in the Europe and the International Neutrino Factory. I am also leading the effort to carry out the pre-conceptual design for the super superconducting proton-proton collider (SppC).
