Dr. Liang-Hong Guo is Professor of Environmental Chemistry at Research Center for Eco-environmental Science. His major research interests are environmental analytical chemistry and environmental molecular toxicology. In the area of environmental bio-analysis, we develop biosensors and bio-devices for the on-site detection of POPs and for the rapid identification of highly toxic environmental chemicals. In the area of environmental toxicology, we study the molecular mechanisms and mode of actions of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as perfluorinated chemicals and polybrominated diphenyl ethers, focusing on their reproductive and developmental toxicity and endocrine disruption effects. In the area of environmental nanotechnology, we design and synthesize novel semiconductor nanomaterials for the efficient photocatalytic degradation of POPs, study the photochemical transformation and environmental processes of semiconductor nanomaterials, and investigate the toxicity and mechanisms of carbon nanomaterials. Our work has resulted in about 100 publications in leading international journals such as Environ. Sci. Technol., Anal. Chem., Arch. Toxicol., Nano Letters, Nanotoxicol. Dr. Guo is the Director of the Joint Center of Atmospheric Chemistry and Health, Associate Editor of Environmental Science: Processes and Impacts, Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Journal of Environmental Chemistry, and Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
